Kingston LettuceCrispy, snappy, and so versatile, Romaine Lettuce has a tradition of gracing the tables of appreciative consumers for hundreds of years. In fact, lettuce was served on the tables of Persian royalty as far back as 55 B.C. where it was praised for its intrinsic medicinal values.

At Kingston, we praise it for its outstanding quality and flavor. We select only the Romaine Lettuce that is crispy and rich in taste and harvested at the peak of perfection, then carefully packed, and rushed to your kitchen with a flavor you would swear came fresh from the garden. ICEBERG

With over 6,000 years of history behind it, Iceberg Lettuce dates back to the time of the Sumerians, the first known civilization that lived in what we know as Southern Iraq. Also, ancient Greeks and Romans who used it for medicinal as well as culinary purposes enjoyed iceberg lettuce. The name lettuce is derived from the Latin word "Latucca" and it is believed that the Romans introduced it to the rest of Europe.

Further developed in the United States, Iceberg was recognized for its excellent eating and storage qualities. Indeed, Iceberg lettuce stays fresh longer than any other type of lettuce if kept at a constant temperature. This makes it extremely attractive to consumers because it does not have to be eaten all at once and can be kept in a cooler for well over a week if stored properly. Unlike other varieties of lettuce Iceberg is all 'heart' so there is very little waste. It can be cut with a knife, chopped in half, sliced, shredded or cubed.

Iceberg's cool fresh taste compliments barbecue foods like burgers and kebabs perfectly. It's also the ideal foundation for a variety of crisp salads and sandwiches. There is nothing to beat Iceberg's subtle flavor, and kids love its crunchiness added to their favorite foods.
